When is the first and last day of school for the 2026/2027 school year?   

  • First Day: Wednesday, July 29, 2026 

  • Last Day: Wednesday, May 19, 2027

What grade levels does PVCS serve?

  • PVCS serves Preschool through 12th Grade. Our two campuses provide a safe   and engaging learning environment for students from early childhood through high school.

Do you offer preschool?

  • Yes. PVCS offers a tuition-based preschool program designed to prepare children academically, socially, and emotionally for kindergarten. Please contact the front office or visit our website for tuition rates, availability, and enrollment information.

What are the start and end times for school?  

  • Lorna Campus PS-4th: M-Th 8:15-2:45

  • Florentine Campus 5th-12th: M-Th 8:20-2:40​

  • Early Release Days Lorna:  1:15/Florentine 1:10

  • Optional Fridays Lorna:  1:15/Florentine 1:10

Are your teachers state certified?  

  • Yes, teachers at PVCS hold at minimum a bachelor degree, an Arizona Teaching Credential, and are highly qualified in their content area

Is PVCS an alternative school?       

  • PVCS is not a designated alternative school with the Arizona Dept. of Education.

  • We are a FREE public charter school that accepts ALL students choosing to attend.

Who can enroll at PVCS?

  • PVCS is a tuition-free public charter school for Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Preschool is tuition-based. Enrollment is open to all Arizona students, subject to seat availability.

Does PVCS offer a Flex Learning (Hybrid) program?

  • Yes. PVCS offers a Flex Learning (Hybrid) program for eligible students. This option combines on-campus instruction with at-home learning while maintaining access to a quality PVCS education. Please contact the front office for eligibility requirements and enrollment information.

Is there an enrollment fee?

  • No. There is no tuition or enrollment fee for Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Preschool is tuition-based.

Can students enroll during the school year?

  • Yes. Students may enroll throughout the school year if seats are available.

Is there a waiting list?

  • If a grade level or program reaches capacity, students are placed on a waiting list and families are contacted as openings become available.

What documents are required for enrollment?

  • Completed enrollment application

  • Birth certificate (within 30 days)

  • Immunization records or exemption documentation (within 30 days)

  • Proof of Arizona residency

Is PVCS affiliated with the Humboldt Unified School District?

  • NO, PVCS is a separate entity chartered by the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools and is subject to all statutes, regulations and requirements mandated to all public charter schools.

Is there a breakfast & lunch program?   

  • PVCS participates in the National School Lunch Program.

  • Breakfast, lunch, and supper (after school) are available daily.

  • PVCS participates in the Community Eligibility Provision, which allows ALL PVCS students to receive FREE meals. Students are welcome to bring a sack lunch, if they choose.

Do the elementary kids have recess/snack time every day?  

  • PS-4th grade have a morning recess/breakfast, a recess before/after lunch and on additional recess. Grades 5-8 have a morning breakfast break/recess and a recess before/after lunch.

Do you have before-care and after-care available?  

  • PVCS offers aftercare daily until 5:30pm. Before-care opens daily at 6:30am. Both programs run every school day, except for the last day of school.

Is before and after care available for preschool students?

  • YES, the cost can be added to weekly/monthly Preschool tuition as an add on service.

Does your school require uniforms?

  • No, however there is a dress code outlined in the Student Handbook.

What is the school’s teacher to student ratio?

  • PVCS strives for smaller class sizes of about 24 students per teachers in 3rd 

  • grade and below. Grades 4 and up follow a class size ratio of about 28:1.

What curriculum does PVCS use?  

  • PVCS follows the Arizona Academic Standards using research-based curriculum and instructional programs including Hillsdale, CKLA, Amplify, McGraw Hill, HMH, FOSS Science, ALEKS Math, Lexia Reading, Core95, and MobyMax.

Does PVCS provide Special Education services?

  • Yes. PVCS provides Special Education services to eligible students in accordance with  state and federal law.

Do you provide Section 504 accommodations?

  • Yes. Students who qualify may receive accommodations through a Section 504 Plan.

Do you offer English Language Learner (ELL) services?

  • Yes. Eligible students receive English language support services.

Do you offer gifted services?

  • Not at this time.

What types of breaks do you have during the school year?   

  • PVCS has 5 longer breaks throughout the year. Fall break is mid-October, we are closed the whole week of Thanksgiving, Winter break is at the end of December, Spring Break is mid-March and Summer Break runs from end of May (out before Memorial Day) through late July.

What do I need to do to visit the campus during school hours?

  • For the safety of our students and to provide uninterrupted education for students and staff, all guests are required to sign in, provide and leave a government issued ID with the front office and sign-out upon leaving.

Do you have a school nurse on site?   

  • We have a part time school nurse, and trained health support on campus daily.

  • First aid will be administered for small cuts or scratches. All medications,prescriptions, and over the counter medicines must be provided by the parent and kept in the health office.

Do you have a school counselor on site?  

  • We do have a school guidance counselor. Parents MUST sign consent prior to any services.

Does PVCS provide academic support for struggling students?

  • Yes. Teachers provide interventions and additional academic support to help students achieve success.

Does PVCS have emergency/lock-down procedures in place?   

  • Yes. PVCS has multiple comprehensive emergency plans in place for many different scenarios. Our priority is student safety. All doors and gates are locked during school hours. Drills are conducted to ensure all are prepared in the event of anemergency.

Do you have a school security guard on site?  

  • PVCS has a school threat management team that is trained, certified, and armed on campus daily.

What happens if my child becomes sick at school?

  • Students are evaluated by the health office. Parents or guardians are contacted if the  student needs to go home.

Can students bring medication to school?

  • All medications must be provided by a parent or guardian and checked into the health  office according to school policy.

What is the total enrollment at PVCS?         

  • Fall 2026 projected enrollment for K-12 is around 500 students.

Is transportation offered?   

  • PVCS does have a bus system with various routes in the greater PrescottValley area.

Is transportation free?

  • Yes. PVCS offers free bus transportation on designated routes throughout the greater Prescott Valley area. Families must register for transportation through the PVCS website each school year. Seating and routes are based on registration and availability.

Do I need to register for transportation each year?

  • Yes. All students must be registered for bus transportation each school year through the PVCS website. Registration is required to be assigned to a bus route. Bus routes and pick-up/drop-off locations are subject to change based on enrollment and routing needs.

Does PVCS offer athletics?

  • Yes. PVCS offers athletics in grades 5-9. Athletic programs vary by season and grade level. Visit the Athletics page on our website or contact the front office for current sports offerings, eligibility requirements, schedules, and registration information.

Does PVCS offer clubs and extracurricular activities?

  • Yes. Students may participate in clubs, leadership activities, academic competitions, and other enrichment opportunities throughout the school year.

Do students go on field trips?

  • We do have a school guidance counselor. Parents MUST sign consent prior to any services.

What electives are offered?

  • Students have opportunities to participate in electives such as art, music, physical education, STEM, and other enrichment courses, depending on grade level.

How does PVCS communicate with parents?

  • PVCS communicates through ParentSquare, email, phone calls, social media, and the school website.

Can parents volunteer?

  • Yes. Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer. Some volunteer opportunities may require completion of school volunteer procedures.

How do I schedule a campus tour?

  • Families may schedule a tour by contacting the front office.
